Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session will focus on getting to know you, understanding your goals, and gathering background information. We will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to outline a treatment plan that fits your needs.

How often will I need to come?

Sessions are scheduled weekly and each session lasts 45 minutes. Think of therapy like going to the gym: your mental health is a muscle, and it strengthens with consistent practice and effort. Just like physical exercise, regular sessions build momentum, create lasting changes, and give you the tools to handle challenges more effectively.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We will verify your insurance benefits before your first session so you know exactly what your coverage includes. You may be responsible for a copay, deductible, or coinsurance depending on your plan.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged a $150 session fee, regardless of your insurance coverage or copay amount.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law, with a few exceptions: if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there is suspected abuse of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult, your therapist is legally required to report. These limits will be explained in detail during intake.

How long will I be in therapy?

Therapy length varies. Some clients come for a few months to address a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, we will review progress regularly and decide what makes sense for you.

What should I do in case of emergency?

Therapy sessions are not designed for emergency support. If you are in crisis, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or dial 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
